| About Me: |
Angie-C, a 22-year-old singer-songwriter, had been performing with a student band called Vox Fusion at Kingston University for two years, where she had often showcased her strong mid-vocal ranges in the styles of R’n’B, Soul, Jazz, Funk and Adult Pop at her local pub in Kingston. She was also previously part of Kingston University’s Pop/Theatrical choir Vox where she sang the solo parts for the Gospel numbers, such as Something inside and Shackles (Praise you) as well as part of Morley Gospel Ch ...moreoir at Morley College in London, which has influenced Angie to have a soulful R’n’B/Gospel-styled voice after being singing Pop/Chart songs for over ten years.
Although Angie-C had taught herself to play keyboard at the age of 10, her first love for music had actually started at the age of 9 when her parents often played seventies/eighties Japanese Pop music and Western disco music – such as Boney M and Abba. As a British Born Chinese (BBC), she had grown up with parents who often sing karaoke at home, at friends’ places and at Chinese community gatherings. This inspired her to take her singing seriously at the age of 13 when she, as a Spice Girls fan at that time, found herself practise singing their songs regularly and in a year later, she had her first performance with her own material Tell me at her Summer School Concert.
On August 2005, Angie-C got to the final round of Troc Pop 2005 at London’s Trocadero, performing two Pop songs, which was judged by former Popstar contestant/Pop artist Kim Marsh & Pineapple Studio staff and the competition was sponsored by Pineapple Studio and Heart FM. At the age of 19, she had wrote and co-produced her own four-track album “The Life of BBC” in a style of Pop, R’n’B, Ballad, Funk and Latin, included Now he’s gone. Angie-C had just finished her final year of a Music degree at Kingston University, where she had specialised in the Popular and Jazz music field. less |
