What year was that, Bob? Just curious.

Bob, you should see if you could get yours professionally restored! Not everyone has a photo of Houdini w/Grandma! That's amazing!

Great pics, all, but the 1914 Black family member kids is just too cute. Such sweetness and innocence in their faces.

Didn't last long but when Grandma dated Harry Houdini, I'm sure it was magic. My thanks to all for viewing.

Right Janese. I have taken good care of them, but the credit goes to my GreatGrandmother who took most of the pictures and then had the forethought to write on the backs so that future generations whould know who was in the pics!

Sheri, I love how clear your Crow Maiden is! You can tell that someone has protected those photos! You have a fantastic collection!

The Beautiful Crow Maiden photo could very well be my real GreatGrandMother, according to family legend.

They definately lived a hard life back then! Still, there's a real beauty in those old photo's! Great entries, everyone!

Janese...check out my other media for a portrait of non-smilers. Yikes! Was it against the law to smile in the past? They never even had big hats!

Janese
12/12/2008 8:19 PM
Cool picture, Stepanie! I think they didn't smile in your photo because no one wanted to stand behind the ladies with the "big hats"! LOL!

I don't know...we might ALL be stuck in the "Twilight Zone"! LOL! ~ Janese

you must click on my picture to be able to see it cause it is a very old picture. Notice how the people dresses back then it is very interesting.

Thanks for all the comment answers. For a while, I thought I was lost in The Twilight Zone, or something. LOL

The link takes you to where the comments are, but some are contest related, some are media related, and some are profile related.

Sometimes you will get notices that someone has commented on one of your photos in your media, but the ones you are referring to, I believe is just for comments in general in this contest.

Bow
12/11/2008 12:05 PM
Katz, go back and re-read the notice. It says someone has commented on the contest that you are entered in. So you will also get a notice for this comment I am making now.

I've had 14 notices that someone has commented on my entry. When I click the link, I find nothing. Where does one find their messages?

Janese
12/11/2008 10:45 AM
Personally, I think they didn't smile because they had to use "outhouses"! That would probably wipe the smile off of my face!

Janese
12/11/2008 10:42 AM
These are great! Someone told me once that they didn't smile because it took so long to process the film in those days!(I guess there was a time limit on how long you could smile in one setting!) LOL!

Bow
12/10/2008 10:06 PM
Diane, did you tell us who is in your photo?

Awdrey
12/10/2008 9:53 PM
That has always been a question of mine too. Why didn't they smile? We may never know.
