Graphic design is all about the dynamic that exists between what is being created and the audience, whereas art hinges around the dynamic created between the creator and creation.

Design is all about finding the solution to a problem. Graphic art is epitomized by a high-schooler with photoshop messing with effects. Graphic design is epitomized by geniuses like Joe Duffy, Paul Rand, Stefan Sagmeister, etc.

I dunno, I just like the creations here. Each one conveys a message whether it has typography or not. And as far as I can tell, they are all produced using digital means.

seems like it can, but doesn't have to, include typography and images. in this 1935 def. "as typography and images" seems to be used as an example of what elements are used.

Graphic Design is type and image combined to produce a powerful message. Sometimes the image is enough. If there is no message intended than it is simply fine art, not really graphic design.

78Deville...take this for what it's worth for the future... All caps in that particular font has always bothered me. To me it reads RHJNG... my other pet peeve a tatoo with all old english capitals... can't read that either.
