It's a gestalt. text alone or with imagery conveys an idea, without explanation

...so if I entered a graphic I created that was then cast into a run of 1 Troy ounce Silver medallions... would that be considered as Graphic design for the purposes of this contest?

Before I enter, I'm somewhat confused. As a Navy Illustrator Draftsman in the days before the MacPlus, GD was considered what illustrators like Norman Rockwell did as his day job...

You can upload your best designs in picture format, all work must be digital no sketches or paintings.

Photoshop's ability to mimic sketch art or painting may confuse some not familiar with its range. I think most people here understand that, or they wouldn't be competing for a tool that will broaden their digital ability.

Whats the confusion, the requirements are simple. (all work must be digital) letterhead ect may be forms of Graphic design, but it clearly says DIGITAL.

Fine art at times sloshes over into mass communication applications, so judging something as not qualifying is not an easy matter.

Graphic design encompasses a wide range of applications. Letterheads, direct mail, advertising of all sorts, posters, logos, editorial illustration.

I've always thought of Graphic Design as being commercial in some way, be it greeting card, logo,CD cover or advertisement.

You may not believe it, but I am actually selling Umbrellas. Through viral campaign, automatically, the thing you would want most right there, subconsciously is an umbrella.I think this is a tricky topic.

I always have just considered graphic design as something only done on a computer. Maybe they should change the contest name to "Computer arts" :p

Graphic design is anything created on a pc.
Dont mean to come off rude. But All of the above fit that bill, with exception to "Drunk"
