I think it is a glitch, Kevin. I get that sometimes too when I have not yet voted.

Great and classic shot of Yosemite Rick. I love that place. I go there a couples times a year. I still need to hit it in the winter.

Thanks KilaP!

BTW that is 60,000 acres, not 16,000. No wonder they never turn up.

7/29/2010 9:30 PM
Great work everyone. GlamCat, KWillettte and abohl yours are my faves.

7/28/2010 7:46 PM
...at least I'd rather picture them that way then to think of them fried crispy in the desert rocks!

7/28/2010 7:45 PM
All of the lost miners are probably in some oasis filled with gold, surrounded by a hidden stream that pumps cool water to them all day! They're wondering why they should ever try to come back and face 116 degrees of heat!

Hey Jazz we need you as an actor to make a Lost Dutchman's Mine Video this Fall

7/20/2010 10:13 AM
Also according to the museum, he may have not found the gold there at all but in a totally different location and used the story to ward off other miners from where the real mine was.

7/20/2010 10:10 AM
They did find like 40 lbs of gold bullion under the miners bed when he died, so I wonder if there really is a stash out there. There are all kinds of crevices to fall into as well. I believe it is 16,000 acres of wilderness.

7/19/2010 7:47 AM
i'll tellyou that is some hard hard country out there...and very hot.

7/18/2010 9:47 PM
Do you think they actually find the gold and then can't get back out? Wouldn't that be a cruel twist of fate? Rich beyond your wildest dreams, but you can't even tell anyone! Wow...no wonder the fable keeps growing!

7/15/2010 11:00 AM
Here's a morbid though. Why not just look for carrions circling an area?

7/15/2010 10:25 AM
They said 300 people have disappeared up there since anyone has been keeping track. Where are all those skeletons?

7/15/2010 9:41 AM
Today is the last day of the search, I think they are calling it off tonight. We are going to hit 116 tomorrow, there is just no hope without water out there.

7/15/2010 9:22 AM
Well looks like those guys are goners. It has a been over 110 degrees here since they've been lost. They never did find the last guy who disappeared there a few months ago

7/13/2010 9:43 AM
the search teams plan to work well into the night, hoping the lost prospectors won’t be added to the infamous legend of the Lost Dutchman Gold Mine.

7/13/2010 9:43 AM
Men and women from all over the valley are looking for 48-year-old Curtis Merworth, 66-year-old Ardean Charles and 51-year-old Malcom Meeks, who like so many before them, set out looking for the Lost Dutchman Gold Mine.

7/12/2010 9:21 PM
Now I know I need a vacation.I would like to visit all of them places. :)

7/12/2010 5:26 PM
I'm in with my photo from the Lost Dutchman State park. As I write this, 3 Utah men went missing searching for the Lost Dutchman Mine. There is a massive search going on now, but no sign of them...

7/11/2010 5:54 PM
I entered with Memories, it was taken in Tahoe National Park.

7/11/2010 1:02 PM
These are some beautiful shots you guys. You really make it difficult to vote. Dang a friend just sent me their photos from Niagara Falls. I wish they were mine to post

7/10/2010 7:51 PM
This category should get a lot of great entries! So far they are all gorgeous! I'm in with "Zion"!

7/9/2010 11:13 PM
I'm in w/ Grand Canyon Keyhole. Shot at the south rim at sunrise.
