| Hello, my name is Amy Lishbrook and I am 15 years old. I am from Malvern, Arkansas where I was born and have lived my whole life. I started singing with my grandfather when I was 5 years old when he would back me up by playing the guitar and I would sing with a little help from him of course. As I got older I didn’t need him to help me as much but all I did was the singing part and he would play. I would go with him to his jam sessions with his friends and they would have me sing all evening ...more. This went on for years so I am experienced in performing with a group backing me up while I sing. When my grandfather passed away from colon cancer in 2005 it tore me up and I didn’t want to perform anywhere with anyone for almost a year. I eventually came around and decided I wanted to learn how to play the guitar and took lessons using my grandfathers guitar. I went as far as I could with the teacher I had and was told that all I could do now was just keep practicing and learning new songs which I have done. I don’t write my own music but I love to sing old music and would love to sing music written by someone else. I promised my grandfather that I would do my very best and that one day his little baby girl would make it to the Grand Ole Opry. That is my dream and will be the rest of my life. I will perform anywhere I get a chance be it a large community event or small nursing home entertainment hour it doesn’t matter to me as long as I get the chance to perform and get my name out there to new people. I am currently home schooled through A Beka Christian Academy DVD Program and in the 9th grade this year. I’m the youngest of two children. I have an older brother that lives in a camper in our back yard. His name is Jonathon and his is 19 and he is into music as well. He got it from grandpa as well. My parents are very loving and have allowed me to pursue my music dreams. My mothers name is Melissa and she is disabled and has an incurable illness causing her to have to undergo chemo treatments. My father is Roger and he works full time for Wal-Mart as the Manager of the Tire and Lube Express. He works very hard to take care of my family on his meager wage then comes home and helps a lot around the house since mom is not able to do all the house work. My family is very supportive of my dreams and spend lots of time taking me to different appearances and practices with local bands. It would make them very proud to see me have my dreams come true by becoming well known and making it in the music business. less |
