Kim Fujiwara has spent over 25 years specializing in advertising illustration, editorial art, portraits, fine art, logo design, and concept presentations. Kim's versatility to use several techniques and mediums are unmatched in the industry. He has had the privilege to work with several top Fortune 500 companies and some of the finest graphic designers, art directors, and publishers in the country.
After graduating from The Center for Creative Studies (CCS) in 1979, Kim worked at major art s ...moretudios in and around the Detroit area for 12 years. During this period, he also instructed classes at CCS for 5 years including: Illustration, Figure Illustration, Illustration Techniques, and Life Drawing. In 1992, Kim started his own studio, Fujiwara Art, Inc., which was located in Troy, MI for more than 10 years.
Kim’s artwork and portraits have appeared on national ads, book covers, editorials, magazine covers, CD covers, posters, brochures, billboards, annual reports, point-of-purchase, and children's books. Several of his golf portraits have decorated the walls at the prestigious Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan while other works have garnered several Gold and Silver Awards at the Annual Scarab Club Advertising exhibitions held in Detroit, honorable mention at Padzieski gallery in Dearborn, merit on Portfolio.com first on-line art show and a red ribbon at Birmingham "Our Town” exhibit.
Other works have included portraits of celebrities such as Arnold Palmer, Isiah Thomas, Jack Nicholas, Henry Ford, George Kell, Ben Wright, Al Unser Jr., Hillary Clinton for the Washington Post, and a limited-edition print of Shaquille O'Neal. His work appears in several Native American children's books including, Carlos Montezuma, and Ishi, also Science Adventures/ Whales, and Italian Portraits.
Recent works include portrait montages for Ford Motor Company's NADA awards, artwork for wine labels for collector's series of Michigan wines from Cherry Creek Cellars, and a new series of american themed oil paintings which include the southwest, western, cowboys, cowgirls, hispanic, and hawaiian women, portraits, and pinup art. Kim currently works out of his home studio in Rochester Hills, Michigan and is planning to relocate to Phoenix, Arizona where he can reinvent his artistic and creative passion in the fine art market.
