Old T.W.

fireman, firefighter, spokane, washington

This is a photo of my grandfather, T.W. Black. I call him "Old T.W." because there are so many other T.W. Blacks in my family. He's shown here wearing his uniform from the Spokane, WA fire department, where he worked from 1910 to 1918 when he resigned. He returned to the department in 1923, and then switched to a public utilities job in 1926. I've tried to decipher the inscription on his hat, but haven't been able to read anything other than the number 80.

I just came across your media. Great Work! You should try bidding for a spot on the Wall of Fame.

Thanks, walbash -- funny, but I have never thought of him as a First Responder. But, you're right...he was.

Great photo - I thank God for him and all other First Responders in this country: Famed!
