As the sun ascended swiftly Through the dew-misted dawn, I reached out for security, To find that you were Gone. My mind questioned frantically What did I do wrong?! No answer to relieve me You were silent, you were gone. Each second seemed a century As the hours drifted on Time measured only misery Nothing mattered, you were gone. Cast away once more and lonely My solitary ache grows strong And threatens to defeat me Since I found that you were gone. Can I let you go and be Instead of clinging on The passed on days of happiness I knew before you were gone? I cannot give up, this much I can see, Though a struggle, I must carry on Facing each day of agony Knowing that you are Gone. Gone Robert A Hardin, Sr
