Description
This is a prototype sculpture made from a polymer modeling compound with the trade name, Super Sculpey. I also used Apoxie-Sculpt, which is a two-part modeling compound consisting of a polymer and a hardening agent - much like an epoxy adhesive and just as sticky. The Sculpey hardens when I bake the model in a convection oven at 275 degrees for fifteen minutes per one-quarter inch of thickness. It is then sanded smooth, primed and finished with acrylic paint. From this one-of-a-kind creation, I can make a multiple-piece, silicone mold and fill it with resin, then hand-paint each casting with acrylic paint. Limited editions usually consist of a handful of artist proofs, a Roman numeral sub-edition and the an edition of no m ore than 250.
