Description
Original oil on tempered hardwood covered with joint compound using a tile trowel - (image: 59" by 36.5" copyright 2007 Patrick Pierson)
This is a WORK IN PROGRESS. The image thus far has been painted in oils OVER the rough grooved surface. When completed and finished with conservator's varnish, the tips of the raised edges will reflect light and create a shimmering effect, reminiscent of sunlight on water. The format of this piece is that of a Golden Rectangle:
1: \varphi \, (one-to-phi), that is, 1 : \tfrac{1 + \sqrt{5}}{2} or approximately 1:1.618.
