Snow
Snowfall By: Sharese Johnson It falls swiftly, softly, and soundlessly. The only thing visible in the immense, and unfathomable darkness is its pure sweet color. The sky above is blank as if the very stars and moon above have been shattered and their glass like silver splinters are descending silently into the already glistening valley. The peaceful silence brought with it is strange. Like the whole world has been captivated by the beauty. Everything seems so pure and clean. The smell is crisp and plain. It is something that brings us together; children play together, couples drink hot-chocolate, and new friends are made. It is like a bond that ties us together without us even realizing. It excites us and makes us happy; it cleanses our souls and refreshes our spirits. I kneel beside a large heap of it, and place my hand in its icy feather like structure. I close my small fist around a large clump of the solid broken up crystal and pick it up. The firm, fair colored globe sits loosely in my palm threatening to melt away, to disappear, and to fade with every breath I take. I stare up to the cloudy and overcast skies above me and things begin to change. The wind blows harshly and the clouds shift. A soft and golden light penetrates the gray melancholy below. The suns angelic glow on my back warms my body and the globe in my hands turns to a mushy puddle. As I fall down I whisper, When it snows, you have two choices: shovel it up or make a snow angel. The once solid powder shifts under the weight of my body. Fitting to me, hugging me tightly, trying to warm me up but only making my teeth chatter. I close my eyes and rest feeling the diminutive slivers fall upon my cheeks. The golden light fades and the warmth is gone. The silence has returned. The world is again captivated by the beauty of the snow. Soft gusts of wind rise small swirls around me. Everything is hushed and calm. It falls swiftly, softly, and soundlessly. The snow falls serenely, my heart beats in tranquility. My breathing is peaceful. Everything is right, the snow falls softly bringing day to night and still the snow continues to fall.
