In this 3D Studio Max rendering I used a Sub Object material technique along with Self Illumination, Fall Off, Attenuation, Curve & Mix Editor with a variety of different colors to give the ship its spectral like effect. I applied Mesh Smooth modifier to the object shapes afterward. I used several Target Direct Light sources with Volume Light, Glow & Ring effects. For the vortex like backdrop I used a Sphere Gizmo and adjusted its Scale, Seed, Hemisphere. Added a Tendril Fire Effect and modified its properties. I wanted to give the scene a sense of flying through hyperspace.
