A New Earth
Inspired to Richard Cassidy Poet@RLCassidy.com http://Poetry.RLCassidy.com A New Earth News of death and disease swirls and constantly bombards my mind, spirit, and soul; Flashes of war thrive and take on a life of their own, refusing to die. Are all battles lost, worthless? Should we even fight? One day, one dark brilliant day, I was given the choice; I was offered life; I was offered death, a painless, graceful death. Would I join the war to fight daily, to battle, even myself for life, for breath, for You? The battle is not our own and you are not alone, abandoned, deserted. The war is not you against them; the war is inside, within us, against ourselves. Will I fight? As I pick up this pen and lift up this voice, I join You, here, now. You are not alone; I am not my own. A war of our lives, our hopes, our dreams, our family, our friends; A war of remembrance; A battlefield of tears. In that dark hour where only a spark of light dwells, in that momentous now, as today, when I chose life over death, my death for your life. I fight for you, for every good, beautiful facet that sparkles brighter than any supernova. I fight for you. I lay down my pride, my shame, for the hope and prayer of a new day, a new tomorrow, a beautiful you. We are not children playing with toys; We are not murderous thieves seeking our own pleasure. Today, now, and forever more, with eyes open for a peace that is more than anything we can imagine. In that hope, in this day, we choose freedom, we choose truth, we choose love, we choose life. Together our words take shape of a dream being made clear. Our words dance and beckon the hope we all share. Our singing hearts stand, in this moment, as we pull with all our hearts can handle, yearning for a different yesterday. Fixing our eyes through each other; We breathe; We hope; We share. Joining hands with even our enemieslistening, caring, and sharingwe draw the line. Pictures of children laughing and playing in the sand clouds our mind so beautifully, so brilliantly, that even despair lays down its sword and hate awaits for us to lead the way to freedom.
