Ozark Mysteries: Legend of the Moonwalkers
Ozark Mysteries: Legend of the Moonwalkers It was a dark night, the evening of Celia Edwards and Alyx Lynells disappearance. For as few know, I was there that night. The events taken place are far from ordinary as the legend of old Ozark Castle came to unfold. It all began a quarter till five on Halloween Eve as I arrived upon Celias home. On this Halloween, if I dare recall, the full moon arose to the nightfall sky. I must have spent ten minutes attempting to drag Celia out, for it would be a thirty minute drive to Ozark Castle, our destination on this October thirty-first. I dont know, Sara, this seems a bit dangerous, dont you agree? I recall her asking as we left that eve. My response, you ask? Dont fear my dearest friend; danger is my middle name on this all Hollows Eve. Wed set off, as I drove to the place of such misfortune, in which our tale truly begins. As we came nigh to the accursed place, clashes of thunder were heard, though the sky was clear and no rain could be seen for miles. For every mile we edged closer to the Castle, the moon seemed to turn a subtle shade of blue. Sara, perhaps we should turn back while we can. Quoted Celia, though I now wish Id listened. For on this night, I must confess, she wouldnt have gone missing. But my dear readers, it was on this night you must forgive me, for if they never entered the Ozark grounds the curse would surely reach you. Six oclock the hour turned, Id thought wed be there before then. Darkness grew upon the sky, a clash of thunder here and there, but yet there was the moon, shining above, almost blue. I looked to her, as she turned to me; a look of worry engulfed her. She knew something was wrong, as did I, but I ventured onward. She followed me, as I opened the gate, an eerie creaking of hinges. This is where; you must agree, things get a bit strange. As we entered that dark and creepy cemetery, Celia tripped on what seemed to be a tree root. Hello there, said a boy, about 15. He had hair as black as a raven; his eyes were greener than emeralds, and that smile simply glowed in the moonlight. Im Alyx Lynell, he stated. I remembered him from school; he was always quiet, stayed in the back of everything. He quickly helped Celia up. What are you doing in a place such as this? Alyx and Celia questioned, simultaneously. Alyx then explained to us how he comes here every night to write poems and fill in his journal. Once we explained we were there to explore, something unexplainable happened, though Ill try to explain. Things seemed to get quiet, almost as though nothing could make a sound. Then, a bright flash, and occult-like chanting, with the scream of a pained woman startled us. Then, there were people walking through the cemetery to the castle chanting: The moon is our god, we will destroy for it, and we will destroy. Celia, being frightened automatically, screamed. Upon the scream, we gained their attention, and they started walking toward us. As we tried to run out the gate, an invisible, invincible force blocked our way. Kill, Kill, Kill them all! they chanted. Alyx grabbed Celia, who grabbed me, and ran, into the castle. They were coming fast and we werent sure what to do, so we took the stairs, sealing our fates for good. As we ran up the spiraling staircase, their chanting seemed to grow louder and louder. I tripped on a broken stair. Panicky, I managed to stand before they reached me. I ran, attempting to reach them before the others. As I managed to get to them, we discovered a book, which read I laid a curse upon this most wretched of castles. On All Hallows Eve, when the moon is full and turned blue, the Moonwalkers shall rise from it and terrorize the Castle and town. They shall kill all those in sight, destroy the buildings, and none shall remember the Ozark Providence. Although this curse is almost invincible it may be stopped in one way: self-sacrifice. It shall take one boy and one girl, but they must be willing and have a connection of spirits. These two people must go to the Moonwalkers, and say the words: We offer our souls to you, in return for the safety of hundreds. Upon reading these words, Alyx and Celia offered to do so. The Moonwalkers were coming fast, and though they made such a decision, they looked for an escape route. We found one outside the window, the wall covered with strong vines. Celia began to climb down first, as I followed, and Alyx held them off until we were on ground. He then climbed down quickly as they poured into the room. Once down, we ran to the gate of entrance. In order to take our last stand and we waited. As the moonwalkers quickly approached, Alyx took Celias hand and led her forward. Celia looked terrified, though Alyx continuously reassured her. They stepped up, as the Moonwalkers raced toward us. And said the words: We offer our souls to you, in return for the safety of hundreds. As they said these words, there was a bright flash, and Celia, Alyx, and the Moonwalkers were all gone. I returned to my car, not knowing what to do next. As I returned home, I told Celias mother she wandered away from me and I could not find her. They have been searching for three weeks, without luck. So, why arent I searching for them, you ask? I dont have to, I, my dear readers, am the kidnapper. I confess, I am the last of my family, I am Sara Ozark.
